Swap the battery.
Shorten the wait.

Dock 4 changes the between-flight workflow. It replaces the aircraft battery automatically while previous mission data transfers, so the next sortie can use a prepared battery.

Battery swap and turnaround are different measurements. DJI specifies a swap under 25 seconds from fully closed cover to completion, and operational turnaround under 45 seconds from landing to relaunch.

Both figures are controlled-test results. The demonstration shows opening and takeoff, not an unedited stopwatch proof of the swap. Battery temperature, readiness, mission checks and operating conditions affect deployment.

Matrice 5TD.
Context, detail and heat.

Move between a wide scene, distant visible detail and thermal information. Three 50 MP visible cameras pair with a native 1280 × 1024 thermal sensor, a laser rangefinder and NIR illumination.

The 23.5 mm, 70 mm and 252 mm equivalent visible focal lengths give distinct views. DJI describes the tele view as 11×; its higher hybrid zoom figures include digital enlargement.

Native thermal. Clearly labelled.

That is the sensor resolution. 2560 × 2048 UHR output is a different processed mode, not a different native sensor. Compare real scene detail, field of view and exported radiometric data.

Temperature analysis depends on distance, emissivity and environmental conditions. The laser’s maximum 3,000 m normal-incidence range has specified reflectivity and visibility requirements; rain and fog reduce performance.

A dock is a system.
The site makes it work.

Plan the aircraft, dock, ground station, network and operating team together. A longer specification sheet cannot compensate for a poor location or an undefined response procedure.

  1. Place the O4 Ground Station.

It is required, not an optional range accessory. DJI specifies an elevated, open location, clear sight to the aircraft in the dock, and a 1.5–80 m cable run. Survey interference and obstructions before committing to the site.

  2. Prove power and connectivity.

Dock 4 accepts 100–240 V AC and has a 2,000 W maximum input specification. Have the electrical supply assessed for the actual site. DJI calls for more than 20 Mbps uplink and downlink, recommending 40 Mbps or higher without external devices and network latency no greater than 100 ms.

  3. Plan the battery rotation.

There are four dock battery compartments, but a maximum of three may contain batteries at once for the swap mechanism to work. Two parallel charging channels are supported. A 27-minute charge figure is from 15% to 95% at 25°C, not a full cold-weather cycle.

  4. Define the operating envelope.

Dock 4 is IP56; Matrice 5TD is IP55. Both list −40°C to +50°C operation, subject to their operating instructions. Ratings do not remove ice, weather, visibility, maintenance or mission limits. Confirm Canadian radio/4G features rather than assuming global availability.

  5. Agree the mission and approvals.

Define who monitors flights, controls access, handles alarms and maintains the system. Check the applicable Transport Canada category, aircraft declarations, pilot and operator requirements. Hardware automation does not itself authorize BVLOS flight.

DJI marks vehicle deployment as coming soon and limits some high-rise deployment features by region. Do not assume the promoted Asia-Pacific high-rise coverage is available at a Canadian site. Validate current firmware and location-specific support.

Dock 4 or Dock 3?
Start with the duty cycle.

Consider the mission schedule and existing fleet before choosing a generation. Dock 4’s battery swapping and Matrice 5TD camera system are meaningful changes; they also change the installation and support plan.

Not just the box.

Tell SkyFlow where the dock will go, what the aircraft must observe and how often it must fly. We’ll confirm the regional configuration, availability and proposed supply scope before an order.

Quotation only. Pricing, lead time, Canadian feature availability and included items require written confirmation. No automatic purchase or public MSRP is offered.

Ask for an itemized proposal.

Hardware: dock, Matrice 5TD, required O4 Ground Station, battery quantity and mounting/cabling.

Software and data: FlightHub 2 deployment, licences, storage, connectivity and integration requirements.

Site and service: electrical work, structural mounting, survey, commissioning, operator training and maintenance responsibilities.

Optional accessories: AL2D spotlight, AS2D speaker, AP1 parachute and accessory mount, where suitable and available. These are not promised as standard inclusions.

This is a quotation scope, not an in-the-box packing list. The final accepted quote determines exactly what SkyFlow supplies and which services are separate.

Before you specify Dock 4.

Which aircraft works with DJI Dock 4?

DJI confirms Matrice 5TD as the only compatible aircraft. Dock 4 is not a dock upgrade for Matrice 4TD, Matrice 4T, Mavic or Autel aircraft.

Is Matrice 5T a different aircraft from Matrice 5TD?

The confirmed Dock 4 aircraft in DJI’s launch, specification and support material is Matrice 5TD. M5TD is shorthand. Searches for Matrice 5, M5 T or M5T do not establish a separate compatible product; ask for the exact manufacturer model on your quote.

Can I fly Matrice 5TD with a handheld remote controller?

No. DJI’s Dock 4 FAQ states that Matrice 5TD does not support manual flight using a remote controller. Plan it as a remotely operated dock system with the required O4 Ground Station and supported software.

Does 25 seconds mean landing to takeoff?

No. DJI lists a battery swap under 25 seconds from fully closed cover to completed swap. Its separate operational turnaround specification is under 45 seconds from landing through swap to takeoff, both under controlled test conditions.

Is the O4 Ground Station optional?

No. DJI says Dock 4 must be used with the O4 Ground Station. The quotation must explicitly identify the station, mounting and cable scope; do not assume it is included in a dock-only line item.

Can I buy Dock 4 online from SkyFlow?

Dock 4 and Matrice 5TD are quotation only. SkyFlow will confirm the supplied regional configuration, availability, batteries, software and project scope in writing. No public price or delivery date is promised.

Does Dock 4 make BVLOS operations automatically permitted in Canada?

No. Select the applicable operating category, aircraft safety declarations, pilot credentials, operator arrangements and permissions for the intended mission. Canada’s Level 1 Complex pathway has specific conditions and RPOC requirements; other operations may require an SFOC-RPAS.
