Measure before you choose
Check the incoming water’s total dissolved solids (TDS). Share the reading, expected daily litres and required rinse finish when planning the system.
Deionization uses ion-exchange resin to remove dissolved ions from water. It is a compact way to prepare rinse water for glass, especially when incoming mineral levels and daily water demand are modest.
Illustrative water path; final plumbing and pressure requirements depend on the selected equipment.
Resin is a consumable. Higher incoming TDS and larger water volumes exhaust it faster, so compare the cost per litre rather than only the purchase price.
SF13 / HoverWash 13 does not include DI or RO. Specify a separate treated-water supply, or integrate purification and storage into a custom NECSS van or trailer build. A heat box is a separate choice and does not purify water.

Check treated-water TDS with a suitable meter and follow the filter manufacturer’s replacement threshold. Resin exhaustion may not be visible in the tank.
Use appropriate tanks, hoses and routing. Keep detergent and untreated-water lines from contaminating the final rinse supply.
Low-TDS water helps limit mineral residue. It does not replace proper soil removal, adequate rinsing or contact work where deposits require it.

For higher water demand or harder source water, consider RO before the DI stage.
